The Science of Precision Flame Cutting

Unlike laser or plasma cutting which melts the metal, Oxy-Fuel cutting utilizes a scientifically controlled exothermic reaction. This process ensures clean, vertical cuts even on the thickest plates.

The process at LSR involves three key stages:

1. Preheating: A precise mixture of fuel gas (propane) and oxygen heats the steel to its "ignition temperature" (approx. 700°C – 900°C).

2. Rapid Oxidation: A high-purity jet of pure oxygen is directed at the heated spot, causing the steel to rapidly oxidize (burn away) in a controlled line.

3. Slag Removal: The high-pressure oxygen stream blows away the molten iron oxide (slag) to create a clean, continuous kerf (cut width).
